The Kee baseball team was one game shy of a perfect week on the diamond, staying perfect in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play but surrendering just its final game of the week by only a single run. The Hawks opened their week with a UIC road sweep at Clayton Ridge/Central Elkader Monday, June 2 by scores of 9-1 and 9-3 but had a Tuesday, June 3 home date against North Fayette Valley postponed to June 18. Their winning ways continued with a 7-1 non-conference victory at Waukon Wednesday, June 4 and a 5-3 win at MFL/MarMac in UIC play Thursday, June 5 before the baseball Hawks split two games at the Iowa Valley Triangular Saturday, June 7, posting a 10-8 win over Tipton before falling to the host Tigers by a 7-6 final result, with results of those Saturday contests being printed in next week’s edition of The Standard.

Holding a 12-4 season record, including a yet unblemished mark of 5-0 in Upper Iowa Conference play, the Hawks were next scheduled to play at Turkey Valley Monday, June 9 and at Postville Thursday, June 12 before playing both St. Ansgar and Charles City in the Saints Invitational at St. Ansgar Saturday, June 14. They will then host MFL/MarMac Monday, June 16 and South Winneshiek Tuesday, June 17 before playing two varsity games at home Wednesday, June 18, first playing Waukon at 5 p.m. before making up that June 3 home postponement against North Fayette Valley at 7 p.m. Kee’s diamond dwellers will then play at Clayton Ridge Thursday, June 19 and hosting Osage Saturday, June 21.
