Home ›Kee softball team’s undefeated week includes UIC sweep at Central Elkader, upset of Class 1A #8 Ed-Co during sweep of four games at NFV Tournament
The Kee softball team played to an undefeated week of six victories this past week, getting a strong start to its Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) season before playing to an even bigger finish of the week. The Lady Hawks swept through Central Elkader in their UIC opener on the road Wednesday, June 4 by mercy-rule scores of 12-0 and 20-4 in four innings each. They then swept through four games against both larger and highly-regarded teams at the North Fayette Valley Invitational Friday and Saturday, June 6-7, toppling a pair of Class 3A opponents with an 8-4 win over New Hampton and a 5-4 victory over Crestwood in Friday’s tournament action before handing Oelwein a 15-5 loss in four innings and upsetting Class 1A eight-rated Edgewood-Colesburg by a 9-2 result in Saturday’s play. Details of those two Saturday contests will be printed in the June 18 edition of The Standard.
Holding a 7-3 season record that includes an unbeaten, 2-0 start to their Upper Iowa Conference campaign, the Hawks were next scheduled to host Postville Monday, June 9, Clayton Ridge Wednesday, June 11 and Riceville Thursday, June 12 before playing in the Riceville Softball Classic Saturday, June 14. They will then host MFL/MarMac Monday, June 16, Jesup Tuesday, June 17 and Turkey Valley Wednesday, June 18 before playing in the West Delaware Invitational Friday and Saturday, June 20-21.
