The Allamakee Community School District (ACSD) School Board of Directors met for its regular monthly meeting Monday night, June 16. Under the Consent Agenda, the Board approved the following certified sub pay rates per day: Teacher Sub Pay, $140 and Teacher Long Term Sub Pay, $190. The board also approved the appointment of Macy Manning as assistant varsity softball coach and the resignation of Daryl Roe from her position of assistant varsity softball coach.
One open-enrollment into the district was approved, and the board also approved a Student Teacher Agreement with Iowa State University and Preschool Partnership Agreements with Growing Bear Daycare Center and St. Patrick School Preschool Center, as well as renewing the district’s membership with Iowa School Finance Information Services. The board also gave its approval to renewal of the Elementary Social Studies Curriculum for an annual subscription cost of $8,977.
During the Communications time in the meeting, there was a presentation on Teacher Leadership Compensation (TLC). TLC Coaches Kelli Olson, Michelle Pladsen, Ciara Snitker and Traci Byrnes gave an overview of the TLC Program and explained the supports they, as coaches, give to teachers and also the importance of the Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). They explained what happens during Professional Development days and the areas of focus.
In his report, Superintendent Jay Mathis noted that summer cleaning has begun and the gym floor refinishers have started their work. Mathis noted that he has been in contact with the vendors to coordinate. He also reported that Keystone Area Education Agency (AEA) has been contracted to perform a comprehensive technology audit this coming year. This audit will involve assessments of current infrastructure, devices and software, as well as interviews with staff and students to ensure that ACSD is keeping up with demand and current trends. Mathis noted this is a newer service being offered by Keystone.
