Registration opens online July 1 for variety of contests and activities at this year’s Allamakee County Fair; Hot Dog Eating Contest among this year’s newest events

The Allamakee County Fair has a variety of contests and activities planned for this year’s Allamakee County Fair that will have registration open as of Tuesday, July 1. All of these contests and activities can be found on the Allamakee County Fair website at www.allamakeecountyfair.org by clicking on the “Contests & Events” tab near the top of the home page for a drop-down menu that will then offer links to click on for registration and additional information.

New this year will be a Hot Dog Eating Contest, sponsored by City Meat Market in New Albin, Saturday, July 19 at 5 p.m. at the Beer Tent. Just like all the contests and events in this article, pre-registration will open July 1 on the Allamakee County Fair website, and this eating contest is open to 15 adult competitors ages 13 and over, and to 10 youth competitors ages 12 and under.

Also among this year’s events are contests such as the Mutton Bustin’ Contest scheduled for Saturday, July 19 at 5:30 p.m. as part of that night’s grandstand entertainment involving the thrill of rodeo. The Boot Scoot 5K Fun Run is also set for Saturday, July 19, with check-in and late registration beginning at 7 a.m. and the run starting at 8 a.m.

Area youth can also sign up, beginning Tuesday, July 1 for this year’s Rolls with Royalty breakfast event scheduled for Sunday, July 20 at 9 a.m. There will also be nearly two dozen “Make and Take” workshops scheduled throughout the fair’s five-day schedule for participants of all ages, with registration for those workshops also opening online as of Tuesday, July1.

• Toad Stool/Fairy House
• Plant Hanger Macrame
• Kids Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Snack Class
• Kids Painting Class (ages 9 and under)
• Kids Painting Class (ages 10 and over)
