Iowa State University in Ames hosted students from across the state of Iowa at the 4-H State Conference/Animal Science Round-Up June 24-26. These student delegates engaged in educational workshops, immersed themselves into what Iowa State University has to offer, explored career and future opportunities, and are beyond ready to ‘Lasso Their Legacy’.
Seven Allamakee County youth attended the 2025 4-H Youth Conference at Iowa State University. Those local delegates included (left to right in the photo above) Hannah Hagen, daughter of Eric and Lisa Hagen of Waterville; Megan Huinker, daughter of Cory and Michele Huinker of Waukon; Mallory Howe, daughter of Matt and Tammie Howe and Mindy Howe of New Albin; Tegan Dahlstrom, daughter of Nick and Lana Dahlstrom of New Albin; Marissa and Trent Schullo, children of Travis and Michelle Schullo of Dorchester; and Lily Howe, daughter of Matt and Tammie Howe of New Albin.
“We are proud and lucky to have a good partnership with the academic departments on campus, and they will be leading most of the workshops. This is a great way for students to explore different majors and studies for their futures,” said Nora Ryan, 4-H Youth Coordinator with Iowa State University Extension, Allamakee County. The conference included a wide array of workshops for the students. This year’s theme was “Lasso Your Legacy,” and the attending youth did just that through exciting tracks like: Choose Your Adventure, Mission Moon, or the Animal Science Roundup.
