No hits allowed in pitching win ... Kee baseball junior pitcher Kyle Mauss rears back to fire a pitch toward home plate in the Hawks’ home doubleheader sweep of Postville Tuesday, July 1. Mauss recorded the pitching win in Kee’s 9-1 victory in game one of the twinbill, not allowing a hit and giving up four walks and one run while striking out two batters in two and two-thirds innings. The Kee baseball team wrapped up its 2025 regular season in convincing fashion, and wrapped up its 25th Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) baseball championship in the process, its first such title since the 2022 Hawks claimed the crown with a 17-1 league record. Kee brought its 2025 UIC season to a close with a sweep of three games at home to start this past week, defeating Turkey Valley by an 8-2 count Monday, June 30 before clinching the UIC title with a 16-2 conference mark following a home doubleheader sweep of Postville Tuesday, July 1 by scores of 9-1 and 19-0 in a mercy-rule four innings.
That UIC crown comes just ahead of the only conference team to beat the Hawks this season, a Class 2A MFL/MarMac squad that had taken the UIC lead away from Kee after a doubleheader sweep of the Hawks in mid-June but then gave it right back two weeks later after suffering a doubleheader sweep of its own at the hands of third-place South Winneshiek to end up with a 15-3 UIC runner-up record. South Winn finished with a 13-5 mark in UIC play to claim its third-place finish in the final conference standings.
The Hawks wrapped up their final week of the regular season with a sweep of two games played in the Riverfront Classic at Riverfront Stadium in Waterloo, home of the Waterloo Bucks, Wednesday, July 2. Kee first took care of Maquoketa Valley by an 11-1 result before also defeating Des Moines Christian by an 11-8 final score.
The Hawks wrapped up their regular season with a 29-10 season record that includes that 16-2 UIC title result. They were next schedule to host their first Class 1A District Tournament game Tuesday, July 8, beginning at 7 p.m. against Turkey Valley.
