Waukon Corn Days will feature a weekend full of activities this Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Waukon Corn Days is a celebration of agricultural heritage and community, and has a long-standing history in Waukon extending back to what some may remember as “Threshing Days”. The Waukon Chamber of Commerce looks forward to hosting the annual celebration again in 2025 with events starting Friday, August 1. This event, hosted in conjunction with Iowa’s Sales Tax Free Weekend, also encourages local shopping with Waukon “Crazy Days” specials, discounts and deals available at local retailers.

“We have a great line-up of activities for Corn Days,” shared Mandy Halverson, Waukon Chamber of Commerce Director. “As always, we’ve got all you can eat sweet corn during the community meal. Kids will enjoy the bouncy houses and other activities in the Kidz Zone. We’re pleased to see new partnerships and events this year including a Kiddie Car Show by RW Pladsen, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament hosted by Park and Rec, and a tractor show Sunday. Corn Days is a celebration of our town and we hope to see people out and about all weekend.”

Corn Days events will kick-off Friday morning with sidewalk sales in downtown Waukon. Folks are invited to join together for the community meal from 4-8 p.m. Friday on Main Street in Waukon. The menu includes a brat or hot dog, bag of chips, watermelon, all you can eat sweet corn and a bottle of water for only $10. The Kidz Zone will be open behind Waukon State Bank during that time as well, featuring A&J Bouncy House with wrist bands for $5.

New this year, in front of Cunningham Hardware on Main Street, RW Pladsen, Inc. is sponsoring a Kiddie Car Show from 5-6 p.m. Uptown Jazz will serenade the dinner crowd from 4:30-7:30 p.m. At 8 p.m., the band Throwback Jack will get the street dance started playing classic country hits from 8-11 p.m.

Saturday, August 2, sales continue at local retailers, an adult softball tournament will be taking place at the Waukon Softball Complex in the Allamakee County Fairgrounds, a youth 3-on-3 basketball tournament will take place on the outdoor hoops at East Elementary School, and WW Homestead Dairy’s Annual Car show is also scheduled to be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. Round out the weekend Sunday with an antique tractor show starting at 12 p.m.

“As summer winds down, Corn Days is an opportunity to celebrate Waukon and our relationship with each other as community members,” reflected Nelly Cota, Waukon Chamber of Commerce Board President.
