As part of its Live & Learn: enriching lives through monthly learning series, Robey Memorial Library in Waukon is offering a presentation entitled “The Real Promise of Renewable Energy” Thursday, September 25 at 5:30 p.m. in the lower level Community Room of the library. This presentation will explore what renewable energy is, what it isn’t, and realizing the full promise of the technology.
Renewable energy provides a cleaner path forward and reduces dependence on non-renewable resources, offering hope for a more sustainable tomorrow. This program will examine both the obstacles and the opportunities looking toward a greener future.
The presentation will be offered by Jim Downing, a local resident who has worked in renewable energy for more than 11 years. He has directly managed the installation of more than 1200 turbines contributing more than three gigawatts of wind energy installation to the U.S. grid. His experience includes work with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Independent Power Producers (IPPs), and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) aspects of renewable energy installation. He is passionate about the real promise of renewable energy and actively advocates for better understanding of what that is, as well as advocating for veterans’ issues within the renewable energy community.
Registration for this program is encouraged but not required. Contact the library’s Front Desk with questions at 563-568-4424 or www.waukon.lib.ia.us.
