The theme for Waukon High School’s 2025 Homecoming was “Battle of the Tribes: Two Tribes, One Victor,” as the Waukon football team hosted the other Indians from this season’s Class 2A District 3, Forest City, Friday, September 19 in the District 3 season opener for both squads. Despite more than a two-hour weather delay due to storms and lightning that pushed the game’s end time near midnight, the host Indians proved early they would be that one victor in the happiest of Homecoming wins by a 46-0 final margin.

Waukon’s grid Tribe clicked on all cylinders throughout the ballgame, using a fairly balanced offensive attack of 152 yards through the air and 122 yards on the ground to accumulate a 274-132 final advantage in offensive yards while racking up four receiving touchdowns and two more on the ground to score on six of its first eight possessions of the contest. Defensively, the host Indians had four different players pick off interceptions on the night while also blocking two punts, including one that rolled out of the end zone for a safety, all while limiting the visiting Indians to just 42 yards rushing on the night.

Evening their season record at a 2-2 season mark with their district-opening victory, the Indians are next scheduled to hit the road for a Class 2A District 3 match-up at North Fayette Valley this Friday, September 26. The TigerHawks enter what will be their Homecoming game with a 1-3 season record that includes a non-district win at Sumner-Fredericksburg, 35-19, two Fridays ago, with North Fayette Valley also falling at Independence, 47-14, and to West Delaware at home, 41-6, in non-district play before opening Class 2A District 3 play this past Friday with a 26-7 loss at top-five rated Osage.
