Waukon girls cross country team wins yet another team-scored meet, tops entire fields of both overall and large school races at Starmont

Another meet turned into another victory for the Waukon girls cross country team, as the Lady Indians topped the 14-team overall scoring field at the varsity level of the Starmont Invitational Tuesday, September 16 for their third victory out of three team-scored meets so far this season. The Starmont Invitational tallies team scores for both the complete race of all teams involved and also the further breaking down of the team scoring for Class 1A teams only and for larger schools in Class 2A, Class 3A and Class 4A teams combined.

The Waukon girls had all five of their scored runners finish in the top 30 of the 101 runners in the complete race and in the top 15 of the 56-runner large school field to claim both team titles. Those consistent high-end placewinnings allowed the distance Tribe to edge Class 1A seventh-rated Sumner-Fredericksburg by a 71-73 count in the complete race. 

The Lady Indians were next scheduled to host their own home invitational Tuesday, September 23 before competing at Central Springs at Manly Thursday, September 25. They will then run at Western Dubuque Thursday, October 2 before competing at the South Winneshiek Invitational Tuesday, October 7 at Calmar to wrap up their regular season.
