Biannual New Albin Quilt Show October 10-12

The biannual New Albin Library Quilt Show will take place this year, Friday-Sunday, October 10-12, at the New Albin Community Center. As in previous years, there will be beautifully constructed quilts and other works of art made from fiber - all made by talented hands  in the tri-state area.

The event will also feature raffles, vendors and demonstrations. This year’s event will also include a demonstration that will focus on how to make shopping bags from plastic feed sacks.

Judy Masur of Cresco will be displaying 20 quilts at this year’s show. Masur has been collecting antique textiles for many years, and she enjoys the study of Quilting History in America. Her collection includes two centuries of American quilting - the 19th and 20th Centuries. The oldest quilt in her collection dates back to 1820.

On display at the quilt show, she will be bringing old and new quilts from her collection, including her Susan G. Komen Baltimore Album Quilts. As a quilter herself from the age of 12, Masur enjoys talking to people about quilts and quilting. She is looking forward to visiting with quilters and non-quilters alike at the show.

Anyone who has anything they would like to display at the quilt show is asked to contact Peg at 507-429-1693 or Robin at 563-544-4272. Show hours for this year’s event are Friday evening, October 10 from 4-7 p.m., Saturday, October 11 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, October 12 from 12-4 p.m.
