Dairyland Power Cooperative, along with 10 of their member cooperatives and the Wisconsin statewide association, kicked-off National Co-op Month with the 3rd Annual Cooperative Day of Service Wednesday, October 1. Dairyland coordinated five service projects throughout its service territory and joined forces with employees from local electric cooperatives to showcase their dedication to the cooperative principles, Concern for Community and Cooperation Among Cooperatives.
Among the five project locations was Yellow River State Forest near Harpers Ferry, where Dairyland Power was joined by staff members from Allamakee-Clayton Electric and Richland Electric cooperatives to work on brush clearing and debris removal, cleaning up an old retention pond, and painting of the State Forest headquarters. Dairyland Power also worked in several other locations throughout the tri-state area, including Andersen Scout Camp at Houlton, WI, Birchwood Senior Center (ADRC of Washburn County) at Birchwood, WI, Camp Nawakwa at Cornell, WI, and United Way of Freeborn County and Albert Lea YMCA at Albert Lea, MN.
“Working together is the essence of what it means to be a co-op and that was on full display today as our cooperative system came together to support local communities and the organizations that serve them,” said Dairyland President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Brent Ridge. “Dairyland is honored to lead this event celebrating National Co-op Month, which embodies the very principles that empower us to make a difference.”
Headquartered in La Crosse, WI, Dairyland Power Cooperative provides the wholesale electrical requirements for 24 distribution cooperatives and 27 municipal utilities.
