Gloria Ann Brink Burkart
It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Gloria Ann Brink Burkart, aged 75, September 27, 2025. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, colleague, and friend, she lived a beautiful life marked by deep love, faith, kindness, strength, integrity, perseverance, and devotion to her family and loved ones.
A celebration of her life will take place at Pikes Peak Pavilion in McGregor October 26 from 1-4 p.m., with a short session for speakers starting at 2:30 p.m. Friends and family are welcome to come together in remembrance and honor.
Born October 14, 1949, in Farmersburg, Gloria Ann grew up on a farm in Waukon with her sister Gerri and four brothers, Gale, Gary, Greg, and Gene. She has many fond memories of farm life, including fishing, baking, and doing chores. She treasured memories of visiting the family cabin on the Mississippi River in Harpers Ferry.
Her father, Leo Brink, passed away in November 2007; her mother, Ruth Ludeking Brink, died in June 2011; and her brother, Gary, passed away in March 2015. Her stepdaughter, Meegan Burkart, died in 1998.
After high school, Gloria Ann moved to the Cedar Rapids area and worked various jobs, including factory work, in-home daycare, and real estate. In the early 1980s, she began her career in the moving industry with Beltman, North American. In 1998, she started her career as a salesperson at Alexanders Moving in the Minneapolis, MN office. She eventually moved to Florida in 1996, where she continued to serve her clients. For 22 years, she was recognized as one of the top salespeople within Alexander’s Mobility Services and received the Atlas Van Lines Presidents Club award 11 times for outstanding sales.
Gloria Ann retired in 2020 and was diagnosed with mesothelioma lung cancer shortly afterward. In the past few years, she has enjoyed spending time with her husband Joe, family, friends, children, and grandchildren. Over the last three years, she has become a world traveler, visiting her condo in Satellite Beach, FL, and trips to Key West, Bahamas, Maine, Louisiana, Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, Sicily, and more.
Gloria Ann is survived by her loving husband, Joe, of 37 years. She is also survived by her daughter, Michelle (Shawn) Adkins of Florida; and her son, Mickael (Kristie) Peterson of Iowa; her stepdaughter, Miya (Kevin) Hanson of Washington; 11 grandchildren, Kristin (Chad) Bloodworth, Jacob (Lora Kay) Adkins, Nathan (Tara) Adkins, Josey (Brandon) Brake, Justin Peterson, Jesse Peterson, Joseph Peterson, Liam, Alec, Aleah, and Justina; nine great grandchildren, Maverick, Heath, Mackenzie, Molly, Graham, Mia, Orrick, Nola and Isla Rose; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of all who loved her dearly and cherished her presence.
