Home ›Supervisors approve lease agreement for Irish Hollow Quarry, discuss personnel and election matters during regular session

The Allamakee County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Monday, October 13 to address a full agenda of matters including discussion of a County Solid Waste Department personnel matter, consideration of setting dates for the first and second canvass for the November 4 City-School election, and consideration of a rock quarry lease. The meeting was called to order by Board of Supervisors Chairperson Dan Byrnes with Supervisors Tom Clark and Dennis Keatley present.
During Public Comment, Byrnes provided a recap of the Driftless Half Marathon, Relay and 5K which took place Saturday, October 11 between Harpers Ferry and Lansing. He advised that there were 228 participants in total with 138 of those individuals participating in the half marathon. Byrnes noted that the event attracted participants from throughout the United States with individuals from as far away as Asheville, NC and New Jersey. He said that weather conditions were great for the duration of the Driftless Half Marathon, Relay and 5K with the assistance and planning of several individuals and agencies making the event a success including race director Amanda Hess and other event volunteers, the Lansing Fire Department, Lansing Police Department, Lansing Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Department, among others involved.
Following the time allotted for Public Comment, the meeting moved into the notification of electronically filed manure management plans (eMMPs) for the Highway 52 Site. Byrnes clarified that this notification is for public information relating to the eMMPs filed with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and that questions from the public relating to finding this information on the DNR website may be directed to the County Auditor’s office. No official action was necessary relating to this informational matter.
