Amber was born in 1923 to Hyrum and Eloise (Newton) Rutter in Ferryville, WI. She spent her early years in Ferryville with her parents and siblings Kermit, Merrill, Arthur, Maurice, Doris and Lorrayne. At that time, students from the Wisconsin area were bussed to Lansing for public school education.

Amber was a graduate of the Lansing High School class of 1941.

Amber married Reuben Dyb in 1942, and they had three children: Ron (Val) Dyb, Shirley Dyb (Bill) Sinnott, and Patricia Dyb (Garey) Ferguson. Reuben passed away in 1962 at the age of 41 years. Amber reconnected with a former school mate, who had also been widowed, Horace Magnusson, and they were married in 1963, and she became step-mother to: Karel Magnusson (John) Sims, Bob (Shirlee) Magnusson, Judy Lowther-deceased (special friend Bill Couch), Roy Magnusson-deceased and Tom Magnusson-deceased.

Amber had many hobbies and interests over her many years including outdoor activities such as swimming, gardening, biking, fishing, golfing and camping. She also enjoyed square dancing, playing Euchre and Bridge, Bingo, knitting and crocheting. Amber was an avid reader enjoying books from the Lansing Public Library. She spent leisure time doing jig saw puzzles, crossword puzzles and word searches. She was introduced to an Apple iPad and after a steep learning curve, loved using her iPad for Euchre games and Facebook.

Amber was a long-time member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Lansing and was a member of Women’s ELCA.

Amber leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They lovingly remember her for all the winter mittens she knitted for them, the homemade buns, lefse, and of course, cookies and Christmas fudge! They will hold her memory forever in their hearts.

Amber was social and loved her family, friends and church. She will be remembered for her witty sense of humor and friendly smile. In her final days, she repeatedly said, “Tell everyone that I love them.”
