Marlene J. Dahlstrom, 67, of Waukon died Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 18 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon with Pastor Mark Oehlert officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.
Marlene Jean Dahlstrom was born February 9, 1958, in Waukon, the daughter of Alto and Norma (Schave) Dahlstrom. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon and graduated from Waukon High School in 1976. After graduating, she went to work at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon as the ward clerk and a certified nurse’s aide. Marlene worked at the hospital for 47 years, retiring in 2023.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Marlene loved raising flowers, quilting, and going to quilt shops with her friends Ann Fossum and Patty Clark. She loved spending time with her family, especially her many nieces and nephews, and was very close to her niece Lisa.
Survivors include her siblings: Jolene (Darrell) Holtzclaw of Indianapolis, IN, Ron (Linda) Dahlstrom of Waukon, Dennis Dahlstrom of Waukon, Duane “Buck” (Joni) Dahlstrom of Waterloo, Julie (Joe) Connolly of Gardner, KS, Dale (Lynn) Dahlstrom of Waukon, and Steven Dahlstrom of West Union; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister-in-law, Joni Dahlstrom; two nephews, Al Dahlstrom and Jesse Huntley; and a niece, Sam Grant.
Honorary casketbearers were Ann Fossum and Patty Clark. Casketbearers were Bill, Chris, Jason, and Tim Dahlstrom, Ryan Connolly, and Brecken McCormick.
