The community of Harpers Ferry will be hosting a variety of holiday events as the month of December rolls on. Area residents and visitors can take in some of that holiday spirit at the following events:
• The Dolores Tillinghast Library will hold its Christmas Open House Friday, December 12 from 4-6 p.m. at the library. Come enjoy treats, refreshments, and conversation. The Dolores Tillinghast Library basket raffle began November 10 with all the baskets on display and raffle tickets available for purchase during regular library hours through December 18, when the drawing for the basket winners will take place.
• A Kids’ Activities Day will take place at Portside Events Center Sunday, December 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a movie, crafts, and games. Children will also have an opportunity to have their picture taken with Santa Claus.
• Saturday, December 13, the American Legion Post 722 will host its Christmas Bingo event at the Legion Hall. Doors open at 6 p.m. with Bingo beginning at 7 p.m. There will be six hams given away for prizes and all players will have a chance to win $500. If this would be postponed due to snow, Christmas Bingo will be December 20.
Be sure to drive or walk by Tillinghast Park in the evening during the holiday season to see the festive lights and decorations. The Harpers Ferry Boosters, Inc. have created a display for all to enjoy.
