Lansing’s Sarah Murray of “Hope is a Strategy” to speak at Community Resource Fair in Postville this Sunday

A Community Resource Fair is coming to Allamakee County, scheduled for this Sunday, December 7 at the Northeast Iowa Wellness & Recreation Center in Postville, from 1-4:30 p.m. The event will bring together nonprofit organizations, government services, and community partners who support northeast Iowans with vital resources.

Organizers of the event are especially pleased to welcome Sarah Murray of Lansing, founder of “Hope is a Strategy” who has an incredible and inspiring story. After a fall left her a quadriplegic, she chose to use her experience to uplift and motivate others. Her message is powerful, hopeful, and truly encouraging. She’ll be speaking at 2 p.m., and everyone is encouraged to attend.

The Community Resource Fair is designed to connect people with local support, services, and organizations that make a difference in the local community. For those who may be in need, there will be free winter essentials, including blankets, coats, hats, and gloves. There will also be refreshments and a chance to talk with local organizations offering resources, support, and services.

A number of area support and resource organizations are scheduled to be in attendance. These include Northeast Iowa Wellness & Recreation Center, Riverside Center, Project Linus, Veterans Memorial Hospital, Schultz Wellness, Iowa Works, Visiting Nurses Association, Hope Family Closet, Iowa Primary Care Association, Proteus Clinic, Postville Library, CaptionCall, First Call for Help - Allamakee Clayton Electric Cooperative, Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging, I’m Glad you Stayed Project, Immigration Action Network of the Northeast Iowa Peace and Justice Center, Path to Citizenship/Iowa Migrant Movement for Justice, Catholic Charities and The Depot Outlet.

The event is designed to be a welcoming, no-cost opportunity to learn about local programs related to health, wellness, employment, education, family support, and community services. Whether a person is looking for help, information or connections, there’s something for everyone to discover for resources available close to home.
