The 2025-2026 Waukon boys basketball team will return just enough varsity letterwinners from past seasons to field a starting line-up this season, as five players return to the court this winter with enough experience to have earned a varsity letter during prior campaigns and will lead this season’s team of 17 players at the varsity level. A majority of those returning veterans come back from a squad that compiled a 10-13 overall record last season that included a 3-5 mark that placed the bucket Tribe in third place in the last-ever Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) standings.
Seniors Colton O’Neill and Dylan Stegen bring back the most of that varsity experience from last season as the eldest upperclassmen, with fellow senior Zach Perkins also having been a letterwinner from two seasons ago as a sophomore but having to sit out last winter’s campaign due to a knee injury. Junior Vaughn Stegen and sophomore Talin Hemann round out this season’s list of letterwinning returnees to make for just enough players to fill a basketball starting line-up.
The Indians were scheduled to get their 2025-2026 campaign underway at MFL/MarMac Tuesday, December 2 before hosting New Hampton Friday, December 5, playing at Crestwood Tuesday, December 9 and then hosting North Fayette Valley Friday, December 12. The final week before the holiday break will see the bucket Tribe host Clayton Ridge Tuesday, December 16, host Decorah Thursday, December 18 and then play at West Central Friday, December 19.
