Students and families are encouraged to spend some time at Robey Memorial Library in Waukon during the Winter Break from school. Besides its collections of reading materials for all ages, Robey Memorial Library is offering special activities for students and families this Winter Break.
• Stop in to take something fun home to create in the Take & Make activity bags available for kids and for teens. These will be available first-come, first-served.
• Visit the library for a Winter Break Movie Monday, December 29 at 1:30 p.m. in the Community Room. The movie showing is “A Minecraft Movie” (rated PG). All children ages eight and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
• Reading Dragons returns. Through January 10, pick up a reading log at the library or print one from the library’s website to begin a reading journey. Participants earn collectible dragon cards for every 30 minutes they read. The cards feature four winter-themed dragon families - including eggs, babies, teens, and adults. Readers who log 10 hours or more during Winter Break will also have the opportunity to earn dragon families they may have missed during the 2025 Summer Reading Program.
Robey Memorial Library closes at 12 p.m. Wednesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 31. The library will be closed Thursday, December 25 and Thursday, January 1, and will be open its regular hours the rest of the holiday season: Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Contact Robey Memorial Library with any questions by visiting 401 1st Avenue NW in Waukon, calling 563-568-4424; or visiting online at www.waukon.lib.ia.us.
