The Waukon girls basketball team played a single game to start this past week, hosting a single-win Clayton Ridge squad Tuesday, December 16 and taking care of business fairly easily. Holding the visiting Eagles scoreless through the entire first quarter of play, the bucket Tribe’s defense didn’t allow Clayton Ridge to score more than seven points in any of the game’s four frames while tallying double digits in each period to end up with a 49-15 win.
The Lady Indians had a Thursday, December 18 home game with Decorah postponed to February 5 due to winter weather and were also scheduled to play at West Central Friday, December 19, with results of that game to be printed in the December 31 edition of The Standard due to an earlier print deadline. The Waukon boys will return to the court after the holidays with a Saturday, January 3 non-conference game against Grand Meadow, MN at Luther College in Decorah.
