A new drop site has been started locally for a natural health food distributor bringing bulk and specialty health foods to communities all across the nation. Initiated in December, an Azure Standard drop site has been established in Waukon for more convenient access to healthy organic foods and natural products at family-friendly and bulk prices in a unique approach.
Azure Standard is a family-owned company that specializes in organic, non-GMO (Genetically Modified Organism), and natural foods and products. They offer a wide variety of items including bulk grains, flours, beans, snacks, baking supplies, spices, household goods, and wellness products. Instead of shipping directly to individual homes, Azure uses a community drop-site system, allowing customers to order online and pick up their items once a month at a local location - an effort that helps keep costs affordable.
Prior to most recently establishing the Waukon drop site, the nearest sites available for pick-up were located in Caledonia, MN and Viroqua, WI. With the number of folks from the northeast Iowa area picking up their orders in Caledonia, adding a Waukon site was suggested. The Waukon site was approved in late November and the first drop was in December. There is a minimum dollar amount of orders placed that is needed to secure a drop each month, and the first drop for Waukon easily exceeded the set minimum.
The Waukon drop site will be coordinated by Stephanie Iverson, who will oversee monthly deliveries and pick-ups for the local community. WW Homestead Dairy on Rossville Road in Waukon has offered its parking lot for the drop site.
Iverson stated, “Over the last year, many friends and family members were ordering through Azure and picking up in Caledonia. We would help each other out by picking up each other’s orders. We loved the quality - and I especially love being able to buy in bulk; but driving to Caledonia to pick up was not always convenient. I asked those already using Azure if they’d be interested in a Waukon drop. There was strong support, so I made some calls to see if it was possible and our site was approved fairly quickly! I was concerned there might not be enough demand in the Waukon area to support a drop site, but with our very first drop, we far exceeded the minimum order. The first delivery was in the midst of a heavy snow and strong winds. We worked together to help unload the truck and everyone seemed happy with the delivery and the products.”
This new drop site provides a convenient way for the Waukon area to access high-quality, responsibly sourced food while supporting a community-based distribution model. Visit www.Azurestandard.com for more details about the company and the ordering process. The next drop at the new WW Homestead Dairy location in Waukon is scheduled for the week of January 11 and the cut-off date to order for that delivery drop is Wednesday, January 7 in the evening.
For more information or to get started, visit Azure Standard online and choose the Waukon, IA drop site at check-out. Individual orders do not require a minimum dollar amount, but every order does include shipping fees. The website will note order cut-off dates and what week the delivery will be shipped. Once an order is placed, the customer will receive notice the week before on the specific date and time for the order delivery.
