Split of two games for Kee boys basketball team brings nine-game skid to a halt, as Hawks defeat West Central, 74-48, but fall to Wapsie Valley, 66-54

The Kee boys basketball team split the two contests it was able to play this past week, posting a 74-48 win at home over West Central Tuesday, January 20 to halt what had amounted to a nine-game losing streak over the past month’s time. The Hawks followed that win with a 66-54 loss to Wapsie Valley in one of this weekend’s games played in the Upper Iowa University (UIU) Shootout at Fayette Saturday, January 24.
The Hawks were also scheduled to play at East Buchanan Monday, January 19 and at Turkey Valley Friday, January 23, a game initially moved to Thursday, January 22 due to forecasted cold weather. That frigid weather made an even earlier appearance and forced postponement of that Turkey Valley game to a date yet to be determined as of press time for this week’s edition of The Standard. The East Buchanan game was scheduled to be made up Monday, January 26.
Following that East Buchanan make-up game, Kee’s boys were next scheduled to host Postville Tuesday, January 27 and Edgewood-Colesburg Thursday, January 29. They will then play at Central Elkader Tuesday, February 3 before hosting Clayton Ridge Friday, February 6.
