Lansing City Council hears update on funding steps for Main Street reconstruction, holds public hearing on utility billing amendment

The Lansing City Council met in regular session Monday, April 6, addressing a variety of agenda items that included routine approvals, infrastructure planning, utility rate changes, citizen concerns, event logistics, park maintenance, and traffic-related operational matters. Notable actions taken included advancing grant-writing and engineering steps for the Main Street reconstruction project, completing the first reading of a utility billing amendment, and approving tree removal at the municipal pool.

CITIZEN CONCERNS
During the citizen concerns portion of the meeting, resident Laurie Van Brocklin brought to the council’s attention a tree limb overhanging Center Street, noting the safety hazard it presents. In response, Mayor Mike Verdon referenced the city’s ordinance and emphasized the council’s commitment to applying consistent standards to similar requests. It was noted that the Street Department would further assess the matter.
