To the Editor:
In her letter to the editor April 1, Ann Klees made several statements that appear to be no more than what that date is known for, April Fools Day.
The main thrust of her letter appears to be complaining about the high cost of items needed for our daily survival and ongoing operations. Those prices are high. However, Ann clearly lays the blame on the Trump administration. Her arguments show that she has little understanding of world events and international markets.
The Strait of Hormuz has been closed mainly by aggressive actions on the part of the Iranian regime which is quickly becoming non-existent thanks to President Trump. She seems to believe that the war with Iran was/is not necessary, and she could not be more mistaken. The United States is the only country taking any kind of action to try to keep this vital lane open and Ann seems to be opposed to that. President Trump is doing exactly what needs to be done to open this vital corridor. Ann needs to listen carefully to what the president is telling the world.
She complains about tariffs causing the loss of trading partners and she refuses to acknowledge that the trading partners have been getting a free ride thanks to the poor policies of previous administrations.
Ann should pay close attention to the time line that President Trump has been promoting and wait to see how and what will become of the negotiations with what is left of the Iranian regime. She will see that the Trump policies will pay dividends for America and the rest of the world and assure the free flow of commerce through the strait.
