The Waukon boys track and field team brought its regular season schedule to a close and set the tone for its postseason possibilities with two final meets this past week, winning some first-ever titles and setting a new record along the way. The Indians opened the past week with a fourth-place finish at the New Hampton Invitational Monday, May 4 before claiming six Upper Iowa Conference event championships in placing second at the track and field Tribe’s first-ever Upper Iowa Conference Meet, with the shuttle hurdle relay quartet of juniors Gabe McCormick and Issiah Moudy and sophomores Easton Bucknell and Silas Keeling breaking the school record in that event that was set nine seasons ago.
The Indians are next scheduled to compete in their Class 2A State Qualifying Meet scheduled for this Thursday, May 14 at North Fayette Valley High School in West Union. Further details of that postseason path are printed in the Wednesday, May 13 edition of the Standard.
