Tara Fink ...
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Tara Fink, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, joined the Veterans Memorial Hospital Clinic staff nearly four years ago to offer behavioral health care to help meet the great need for mental health care in Northeast Iowa, which she has successfully done. Now with the addition of two more psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, Janet Hunter and Angela Tayer, Tara has been promoted to the Medical Director of Behavioral Health Services at Veterans Memorial Hospital and Clinics in Waukon and Postville.
“Tara joined the Veterans Memorial Hospital Clinic Team October 3, 2022, and has been an essential part of developing our behavioral health service line. Her leadership and dedication have helped expand access to mental health services for our community,” announces Laura Baxter, Chief Clinical Officer. “In her new role, Tara will continue practicing at both the Waukon and Postville Clinics while also dedicating time to support the strategic growth and quality of our behavioral health services. She will help ensure best practices, optimize workflows and provide oversight for our behavioral health providers. I am very grateful to Tara for her passion, commitment and continued service to our community.”
In her new role, Tara will still continue to provide consultations at both the Waukon and Postville clinic locations. She will also continue to offer medication and non-medication managements options for all mental illnesses.
During the month of May, Mental Health Month, Veterans Memorial Hospital would like to remind the area communities that anyone can refer themselves to the behavioral health department.
An initial appointment with anyone of the three psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, Tara, Angela or Janet, will start the process of assessment and possible treatment. If the patient needs additional services, this team will assist the patient and family member(s) in getting them connected to the correct resources. These three professionals all work with all ages, young to old.
To make an appointment to see one of the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners at the Postville Clinic, call 563-864-7221, or at the Waukon Clinic, call 563-568-5530.
