Kee softball team one run away from an undefeated week with split at New Hampton, sweeps of Turkey Valley and two games at Riceville Tournament

The Kee softball team played a total of six games this past week, putting all but one of those in the win column and having that lone loss come by just a single run to currently hold a 10-6 season record that includes a mark of 6-4 in Upper Iowa Conference play. The Lady Hawks’ lone loss of the week came right away in their first game played as they split a Wednesday, June 10 Upper Iowa Conference doubleheader at New Hampton with a 5-4 loss in eight innings followed by a 10-5 victory. A Monday, June 8 home doubleheader with Turkey Valley had been postponed to Friday, June 12 but still resulted in a Kee sweep of the Trojans by mercy-rule scores of 10-2 in six innings and 9-1 in five innings. Kee then wrapped up its week sweeping two games at the Riceville Tournament, including a 5-1 triumph over Class 3A 12th-rated Osage and an 8-4 victory over Riceville Saturday, June 13.

The Lady Hawks were next scheduled to play varsity doubleheaders at Postville Monday, June 15 and at home against Waukon Wednesday, June 17 before competing in the West Delaware Invitational Friday and Saturday, June 19-20. They will then host a varsity doubleheader with Central Elkader Monday, June 22 and play the same at South Winneshiek Wednesday, June 24 before playing in the two-day Don Bosco Invitational Friday and Saturday, June 26-27.
