Waukon softball team falls in pair of UIC doubleheaders at home to New Hampton and at Kee, drops non-conference battle at Decorah

The Waukon softball team played through a winless week of non-tournament games, scoring just a single run in five games played prior to weekend tournament action. The Lady Indians dropped an Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) doubleheader at home to New Hampton Monday, June 15 by scores of 9-0 and 17-0, fell at Decorah, 10-0, Tuesday, June 16, and were swept at Kee Wednesday, June 17 by scores of 11-1 and 8-0. Waukon’s girls were also scheduled to play four games in the West Delaware Tournament Friday and Saturday, June 19-20, with coverage results of those games to be reported in a future edition of The Standard.

The softball Indians were next scheduled to play varsity doubleheaders at Crestwood Monday, June 22 and at home against Central Elkader Wednesday, June 24. Continuing their doubleheader trend the following week, they will then host North Fayette Valley Monday, June 29 before playing at Turkey Valley Wednesday, July 1 and hosting Postville Thursday, July 2 in a make-up double-dip rescheduled from June 10. The diamond Tribe will then wrap up it regular season playing at Starmont Friday, July 3 before hosting Decorah Tuesday, July 7, with both of those non-conference contests being junior varsity/varsity doubleheader dates.
