UERPC delivers bike helmets and Safety Education to NEIA students ...

This past spring, Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission’s (UERPC) Safe Routes to School Program provided bike safety education to over 800 second grade students and distributed helmets to schools throughout Allamakee, Clayton, Fayette, Howard, and Winneshiek Counties. Through the program, more than 400 students who needed a helmet received one to take home, helping ensure they have the equipment needed to ride safely.
In addition, schools and community organizations have access to a Bike Safety Kit free of charge throughout the year. This hands-on resource supports bike safety education by teaching essential riding skills, building confidence, and promoting safe cycling habits among young riders. Through education, equipment, and community partnerships, Upper Explorerland’s Safe Routes to School Program continues to promote bicycle safety and encourage healthy, active lifestyles for children across northeast Iowa.
