by Joe Moses
The Allamakee County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Monday, October 5 to address a full agenda of matters including discussion of the County’s website and Emergency Management information, the discussion and consideration of Solid Waste Department personnel matters, and the consideration of an appointment to the Historic Preservation Commission.
The meeting was called to order by Board of Supervisors Chairperson Tom Clark with Supervisors Dan Byrnes and Dennis Keatley present. During Public Comment, Chairperson Clark noted that this is the last meeting County Auditor Denise Beyer will be attending following her acceptance of a position outside of Allamakee County.
Following the time allotted for Public Comment, the meeting moved into the discussion and consideration of Solid Waste Department personnel matters. Solid Waste Manager Dave Mooney provided a recommendation to move John Schellhammer from part-time status to a full-time position at $21.60 per hour, effective November 1. That recommendation was approved by the Supervisors. Mooney noted that a recommendation relating to the vacant part-time position will be forthcoming with the Supervisors taking no action at this time relating to the part-time position.
First Deputy Auditor Janel Eglseder presented the Quarterly Report for Planning and Zoning. Following review, the Supervisors accepted and placed that report on file.
The meeting moved into the discussion and consideration of changing the Monday, October 26 Board of Supervisors meeting date. Byrnes made note of a schedule conflict relating to another meeting taking place October 26 with Clark advising that he would be able to attend the meeting while away via Zoom web-conferencing barring any technical issues through that online meeting platform. Following discussion, the Supervisors approved to change that meeting date to Tuesday, October 27 with the regular 9 a.m. start time.
