Allamakee and Eastern Allamakee School Districts seeking public input on new shared superintendent

The Allamakee and Eastern Allamakee Community School Districts are working with Grundmeyer Leader Services to identify a shared superintendent for the 2027–2028 school year, following announcement of the retirement of current shared superintendent Jay Mathis at the end of this current school year. The search will begin immediately and conclude with the successful hire of a new leader.

Feedback from district residents, staff and other stakeholders regarding desired qualifications in a new superintendent are being sought to ensure the new hire is a good fit for the school district and community. District stakeholders are encouraged to complete a quick survey to share narrative insights and rank personal and professional priorities they feel would be beneficial in a new superintendent.

The online survey will be available until this Friday, October 30. It can be accessed at https://tinyurl.com/sharedsupt2026survey or by utilizing the QR code accompanying this article.

The input gathered will be reviewed by the boards of directors for the two school districts. The priorities shared by community stakeholders will guide the search for a new superintendent. This survey is anonymous unless participants provide their name voluntarily.

The timeline shared by the school districts in this superintendent search process includes the October 30 closing date for completing this survey followed by a December 31, 2026 closing date for receiving applications for the position. Candidate reviews will be completed January 4, 2027 with semi-finalist screenings January 14, 2027 and formal interviews January 25, 2027.
