VMH encourages residents to mark house numbers well ...

If you had an emergency at your home, how well could the ambulance find you? Veterans Memorial Hospital Ambulance Service has asked all area homeowners in the surrounding communities to be sure their home is marked well like this one, so the emergency service can find you when seconds count.

The Veterans Memorial Hospital Foundation recently sent out a mass mailing to the entire hospital service area asking for donations for a new ambulance for their service due to the growing number of emergency calls and numerous transfers to other facilities.  Donations are still being accepted and can be mailed to Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation, 40 First Street SE, Waukon, IA  52172. Nearly two dozen attend seminar on new alternative joint and muscular pain control procedures available at Veterans Memorial Hospital

Joint and muscular pain control presentation at VMH ... Dr. Dave Schwartz, pictured above, discusses new alternative joint and muscular pain control procedures now available at Veterans Memorial Hospital during a presentation held December 5. Nearly 25 community members attended the presentation with Dr. Schwartz detailing the use of P.R.P. and stem cell procedures involving injections to help delay total joint replacement. Submitted photo.

Nearly 25 interested community members attended the pain control presentation hosted by Dr. Dave Schwartz at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon Wednesday evening, December 5. Dr. Schwartz explained the two new options which are now available locally at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon to help with chronic joint and muscular skeletal pain.  These new procedures are providing options for people who have reached a point where there are really no other options, except for joint replacement, if that even is an option for them.

These new P.R.P. and stem cell procedures both involve injections and have been very successful in delaying total joint replacement. Dr. Dave Schwartz is the physician on the Veterans Memorial Hospital staff who performs both of these procedures.
