Ag-Based Business workshop being held on Feb. 25

The Iowa Ag Innovation Center Executive Director Pat Paustian announced today that they will be hosting an Ag-Based Business Workshop titled "Need to Know", on Feb. 25. This workshop is designed for all growers, producers, on-farm & direct marketers, and farmers' market vendors who wish to increase their overall knowledge of their industry.
Topics to be covered include "Labeling your meats" by Gary Johnson of the Iowa Meat & Poultry Division, "Permits & Licenses" by Bob Haxton of the Iowa Department of Inspections and Food Safety, "Make sure your scales add up" by Steve Pedersen of the Iowa Department of Weights & Measures, and "Insurance - are you covered?" by Doug Becker of Nationwide Insurance. The Iowa Ag Innovation Center will also cover topics on marketing and displaying your products, as well as brochure and web site guides.
The workshop will be held Feb. 25 in the auditorium of the Henry A. Wallace Building, Iowa Department of Agriculture, located at 502 E. 9th Street in Des Moines.
Special pricing of $25.00 is available for those who sign up by February 15th, 2005. This registration fee includes lunch and refreshments.
