Area health care facilities currently experiencing high volumes of influenza cases

Dr. Steven Perkins, D.O. of Mayo Clinic Health System, Waukon advises that area health care facilities are currently experiencing a “very high amount” of cases of influenza within the local community which can be, he advises, “100% covered by this year’s flu vaccine.” On behalf of the local health care community, he further advises area residents to get their flu shots if they haven’t done so already. He also warns that anyone experiencing fevers, chills, sore throat or nausea should stay home from work, school or other community activities and be evaluated by a physician.
