Below average record no indication of above average Kee High boys basketball season

Unfortunately, the Kee Hawk boys basketball season was cut short when they were defeated by Valley in a first round tournament game. Senior Jordan Duffy said, “I was disappointed that our season ended so abruptly. I definitely think we had the potential to make it a lot further.”

Although the end of the season came sooner than expected, a lot of hard work and memories were produced throughout the year. Justin Harris commented, “I was new to Kee High this year and basketball gave me a chance to have fun and meet new people.”

Kee closed the season with an overall record of 10-12 and a conference record of 3-7. Although the Hawks fell just short of a winning season, they did manage to improve their record considerably from last year’s. The Hawks also set the record for the most blocked shots by a team in a single season when they managed to reject 109 shots, crushing the old record of 96 blocks.

As the season dwindled down postseason awards were given to deserving players. Gabe Schultz was presented the “Mr. Offense” award, the title of “MVP,” and he shared the “Jumping Jack” award with Mitchell Manning. Justin Johnson and Jordan Duffy shared the “Mr. Defense” award. The “Chairman of the Board” award went to Dan Mohn. Josh Estebo earned the “Leadership and Dedication” title. The “Most Improved” award went to Bart Fruechte. Quin Schultz was presented with the “Rookie of the Year” award and the “Most Promising” award went to Luke Halverson and Justin Harris. Brian Heuker earned himself the “Best Fan Club” award while Cory Moore was presented the “Medic Award.”

Gabe Schultz made first team all-conference, while Dan Mohn and Jordan Duffy made Honorable Mention in the conference.

Senior Dan Mohn summed the season up, saying, “We had a great season. We had good team chemistry and everyone played well. I’ll miss it next year, but I’m happy with how my career ended.”

Duffy added, “I’d like to thank all of the fans that supported us throughout the season, hopefully I will see the same support this summer on the baseball field.”
