Clark Lindsey

A Masonic service for Clark Lindsey was held Monday, March 14, 2005, at 8:00 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville. Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 15, 11:00 a.m. at the Postville Cemetery with the Reverend Gary Catterson presiding and with Military Honors.

Clark Finley Lindsey was born December 25, 1919, to John Ivan Lindsey and Myrtle Elizabeth (Randolph) Lindsey, in Shelby County, Sidney Ohio. He passed away Monday, March 7, 2005, in the Good Samaritan Center at Waukon, Iowa. He had reached the age of 85 years, 2 months, and 12 days.

He attended the rural schools in Shelby County and graduated from Sidney High School in Sidney, Ohio. On May 3, 1945 Clark was married to Edna Belle Hubbartt at Temple, Texas. To this union two children were born, Charles Clark and Sarah Kaye.

Clark served as a Medic in a U. S. Army Medical Unit, in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and was stationed in Australia for 28 months during World War II.

Clark was employed by Pioneer Electric Co-op in Ohio, Southern Iowa Co-op in Bloomfield, and Dairyland Power as lead lineman while living in Postville. They also lived in Minnesota and Wisconsin. They were presently living in Waukon, and Clark became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in 1999.

He received his Private Pilot license at Albert Lea, Minnesota. He enjoyed socializing with his family and friends, wood working, fishing, hunting, and playing cards.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Charles Clark Lindsey, who died August 26, 1968, his daughter, Sarah Kaye Lindsey, who died July 10, 1983, three brothers, LaRoy Lindsey, and two infant brothers, Ivan Theodore Lindsey and Lester Leo Lindsey, a sister, Violet and husband, Robert Hoelscher, a sister-in-law, Virginia Lindsey, and a brother-in-law, Garold Schmidt.

Surviving are his wife, Edna, Waukon, a brother, Wilbur Ray Lindsey, Sidney, OH, a sister, Wahneta Schmidt, Piqua, OH, a sister-in-law, Ronna Stull, Marion, IA, and brothers-in-law, Max (Marie) Hubbartt, Bloomfield, IA, and Ronald (Martha) Hubbartt, Lancaster, MO, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

Clark was a member of the Masonic Lodge and held several of the offices, a member of the American Legion Post and of the Postville Fire Department. He was also a member of Community Presbyterian Church in Postville.
