Corn Days celebration next week in Waukon has full slate of events

The annual Waukon Corn Days celebration will take place throughout next week with several days of activities planned. A new addition to this year's festivities will include a musical performance Friday, August 5 by the Buck Hollow Band from 7 to 11 p.m. in the Waukon State Bank parking lot. The event is open to all ages for an admission fee.
The musical event will be held rain or shine, with the rain location at the Waukon Banquet Center. Proceeds from the Friday evening event will go toward the improvement of downtown Waukon.
 
A WEEK FULL OF EVENTS
The week’s festivities will kick off  with a Heritage Parade through downtown Waukon at 7 p.m. The parade will travel south from the fairgrounds down Allamakee Street to the four-way stoplight intersection with Main Street. A right turn onto West Main Street will take the parade entries up to the intersection with Second Street (Post Office location), where the entries will then take a right onto Second Street NW, traveling up to Eighth Avenue NW and then back to the fairgrounds.
Following the parade, the heritage vehicles will be displayed back at the fairgrounds, and the Toe Tappers will entertain from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. inside the pavilion. Food, beverages and various activities will also be available at the fairgrounds.
Wednesday, August 3 the Waukon Chamber of Commerce is seeking volunteers to help husk corn, beginning at 3 p.m., at the Adam and Julie Quandahl farm, 1510 West Ridge Road, rural Waukon. The second annual Park It! event will also take place Wednesday beginning at 5 p.m. in the Waukon City Park, with numerous activities for all to enjoy.
Sweet corn and pork loin sandwiches will be served in the Waukon State Bank parking lot Thursday, August 4 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Kids’ inflatable rides and the Allamakee County Dairy Wagon will also be on site. Veterans Memorial Hospital (VMH) will also host its annual 5K Cardiac Classic Run/Walk Thursday, August 4. Registration begins at 5 p.m., with the run/walk beginning at 6 p.m.
