COUPLE EXCHANGES VOWS TO BEGIN MILLENNIUM

The Rt. Rev. Monsignor Edward Lechtenberg conducted the January 1 wedding ceremony of Lana Deeney and Dustan Snitker. The one o'clock exchange of vows took place in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon.
The bride is the daughter of Tom and Diana Deeney, and the groom's parents are Darrell and Kay Snitker, all of Waukon.
Mass servers were Jordan and Thea Curtin, cousins of the bride; eucharistic minister was the bride's aunt, Gail Curtin. Joey and Matt Deeney, brothers of the bride, presented offertory gifts. Lectors were John Deeney, brother of the bride, and Brit David, the groom's cousin. Music was provided by a string quartet, Cantabile, and accompanied by Daryl Hansmeier, pianist. James Deeney, soloist, sang "Grow Old With Me" as the recessional for his sister's wedding.
The bride was escorted to the altar by her father. Her ivory satin gown was styled with a square neckline, Basque waistline, and long sleeves. Alencon lace appliqués and pearl beading enhanced the bodice and sleeves, as well as the full skirt and semi-cathedral train panels. The plunging back featured satin button closure with satin rosettes at the back waist. She wore an elbow length full veil, hand-made with iridescent ivory tulle. The bridal bouquet consisted of hand-tied Anna and Eskimo roses accented with lily of the valley tied with fabric matching her gown.

Wedding party
Leah Angel served as her sister's matron of honor, and attendants were Dawn Snitker, sister of the groom; Angie Zezulka, the bride's aunt; Trisha Oviatt, cousin of the bride; and Connie Nagel. Each wore a sleeveless floor length gown of cranberry wine satin, fashioned with a bateau neckline, fitted waist and full skirt. Matching elbow length gloves completed their attire. Their bouquets were hand tied Anna roses accented with sheer iridescent ribbons.
Serving as his brother's best man was Darren Snitker, and groomsmen were Charles Deeney, brother of the bride, and Duane Larkin, James Farley and Steve Rolfs.
Wedding guests were seated by James, Joey, John and Matt Deeney, brothers of the bride; Chad Angel, brother-in-law of the bride; Frank Armstead, the groom's brother-in-law; Jeff Zezulka, the bride's cousin; and Shanon Benson.
Flower girls Rhini and Cede Angel, the bride's nieces, carried baskets of sweetheart roses that were given to guests. Ring bearers Auston May, cousin of the bride, and Jacob David, the groom's cousin, carried ivory wedding pillows, hand-sewn by the bride's mother.
The bride's personal attendants were her aunt, Carmen McCormick, and the groom's sister, Dacia Armstead. Amy Garcia and Bonnie Meyer, aunts of the bride, were in charge of the flowers. Andrea and Trent McCormick, Briana and Jack Meyer, and Eddie Zezulka, cousins of the bride, were gift attendants. Stacy Skattebo, the bride's cousin, distributed programs. Andrea McCormick attended the guest book.

Reception
Following the ceremony, a dinner reception was held in the church hall, featuring a millennium theme with star decorations. Tulle and white lights adorned the entrances and tables were adorned with wine and ivory decor. Charlie Welch, cousin of the groom, prepared the main course, and the bride's aunts prepared salads. Relatives and friends served and assisted in the kitchen. Roxanne Oder, cousin of the bride, and Jill Kiesau coordinated the meal. Ashley Zezulka, cousin of the bride, served punch. Heather and Earl Zezulka, aunt and uncle of the bride, assisted in making and setting up the decorations. Dick and Jan Deeney and Jim and Deb Evans, uncles and aunts of the bride; Kathy Snitker, aunt of the groom; and Shanna and Ben Holzwarth, cousins of the groom, hosted the reception. The bride's brothers, Charles, James, Joey, John and Matt dedicated a special song to the couple.
A cake and champagne reception, featuring old time music, took place at the Old Rossville Store in the early evening, and was followed by music by a DJ. The three tiered wedding cake, made by Virginia Hanson, had blue frosting and white bows. Patty Peterson assisted with serving the cake.
Jim and Brenda McCaffrey catered the rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom's parents. Craig Bloxham and Brady Waldron assisted.
For their honeymoon, the couple backpacked for 11 days in Greece, the Greek Islands and Italy.
They are currently residing in Mankato, MN, where the bride, a certified public accountant, is establishing a home-based accounting business. The groom is employed as a senior highway inspector by the Minnesota Department of Transportation in Mankato.
