DAIRY PROMOTION AWARD

named outstanding dairy promoter was Nancy Wonderlich.

Nancy was not born a dairy farmer; in fact, she grew up in San Antonio, TExas. She attended Iowa State University to obtain a degree in animal science. At ISU she competed in a milking contest, and her coach became her future husband. Little did she know that she would be doing this the rest of her life.

The couple's first farm was in Southeast Iowa. They milked 70 holsteins and raised crops in partnership with her husband's father.

While in Southeast Iowa she was a 4-H leader and active in the Ollie Baptist Church. In 1980 they moved to Waterille with 50 holstein cows, which has grown to a herd of 85.

Since she moved to the farm, she has been active in the milking and fieldwork. She was active in the Dairy Darlings holding offices as the president and secretary.

This promoter has served four terms on the princess committee, and helps in the promotion of dairy shenever needed.

She is very active in the Zalmona Presbyterian church, as youth and adult choir director, PW president, and member of the circle. She and her husband, Chris, are raising three daughters. Kristen is attending University of North Texas obtaining her graduate degree in Music Performance; megan will be a junior at Iowea State University where she is majoring in Animal Science/Pre-Vet; and Libby will be a sophomore this fall at Waukon.

nancy helped Kristen and Megan set up events as Allamakee County Dairy Princess. She also traveled the state with Megan when she was Iowa State Dairy Princess.
