Dispose of unused medications this Saturday in Waukon

Area residents are invited to safely dispose of unused or expired medications at a National Prescription Drug Drop-Off Day collection event scheduled for this Saturday, April 26 in Waukon. The event is being held at the Waukon Fire Station, located in the first block of First Avenue NE, and will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. that Saturday.
For safety and privacy:
• Keep all substances in original containers
• All liquid containers must be sealed in leak-proof, clear plastic bags
• Mark over/cross out any identifying information on prescription bottles
• Unidentified medications will be accepted with no questions asked.

Items being collected may include:
• Prescription and over-the-counter medications, including vitamins/supplements
• Needles, sharps, syringes with needles in puncture-proof containers
• Thermometers in zip-lock or plastic bags
• Aerosols or pressurized containers.
