Dorothy Huff

Dorothy M. Huff, 72, of Monona, died May 5, 2000, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, WI, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held May 8 at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon with Rev. Steve Campbell officiating. Burial was in Smithfield Cemetery, rural Postville.
Dorothy Mae Huff was born Feb. 23, 1928, in rural McGregor, the daughter of George and Ruth (Carney) Seitz. She attended rural schools in the area and graduated from Waukon High School in 1946. On June 30, 1947, she married Everett L. Huff in West Union. Dorothy lived in this area her entire life, the last 35 years in Monona. She worked at the Northern Engraving Company in Waukon for several years, before she went to work at the Iowa Turkey Product Plant in Postville, completing several years prior to retirement. Dorothy was very devoted to her family, placing them before all else. She was honest and hardworking. Dorothy and Everett enjoyed working in their yard together planting trees, flowers and gardening. They were very fond of the wildflower garden they had in their front yard. The wildflowers were hand-picked by Dorothy and Everett from area woods and brought home.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Susan (Huff) Luster; three brothers, John, Donald and Norman; and one sister, Fern Roffman. Survivors include her husband, Everett, of Monona; five children, Dyane (Harry) Schulte, Monona, Melody (Brad) Kishman, Farmersburg, Fred (Cheri) Huff, Monona, Wendy (Harry) Luster, Geneseo, IL, and Courtney Huff, Monona; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marie Thies, Clermont.
Casketbearers were Ken Kishman, Kurt Kishman, Scott Schutte, Shawn Luster, Wade Wolter, Jake Wolter and Nick Huff.
Martin Funeral Home of Waukon assisted the family.
