Eaton Coté taking part in "Saddle Sore 2000" to benefit the Dan Jones family

Eaton Coté of Waukon enjoys a challenge, and he’s like many other motorcycle enthusiasts when it comes to riding for a cause. Riding to benefit another person puts icing on the cake.
Coté will join two other Iowans this week in attempting to complete a 2,000-mile ride throughout the Midwest in a span of just 48 hours. His cause will be to raise money to benefit Dan Jones of Waterville, who was seriously injured in a logging accident earlier this year.
The Iron Butt Association is a worldwide organization that certifies some of the most challenging motorcycle rides imaginable. The 2,000-mile ride Coté is taking part in is called the Saddle Sore 2000, an official Iron Butt challenge.
The two riders teaming up with Coté are Jeff Kulper of Manchester and Michelle Combs-Carithers of Edgewood. The trio will leave the Iowa community of Delaware Wednesday, August 8 and plans to arrive back at Edgewood before the 48-hour mark. Their route will take them south to Kansas City, MO and then to Omaha, NE, Fargo, ND, Minneapolis, MN, Duluth, MN, Madison, WI, Champaign, IL and back through Dubuque to Edgewood.
Having ridden in a similar event several years ago, this time Coté is excited to pair his love of riding with an added incentive of helping Dan Jones and his family with medical expenses and the cost of making some changes to the Jones' home and vehicle.
As the manager of the eBay store at Waukon Harley-Davidson, Coté is getting his fundraising effort kicked off with a pledge of $.25/mile by the dealership. Pledge/donation sheets are also available at Carquest Auto Parts in Waukon, Waukon Harley-Davidson, and other area businesses.  Deadline for contributions is this Saturday, August 11.
