Elinor “Jeanne” McKee



Elinor “Jeanne” McKee, age 77, of Waukon, died Thursday, March 31, 2005, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services were held Monday, April 4 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Lynn G. Groe officiating. Burial was in the Old West Paint Creek Church Cemetery, rural Waterville. Hanson Funeral Home of Waukon was in charge of arrangements.

Jeanne was born April 15, 1927, in North Dakota to William and Signe (Remmen) Kannenberg. She graduated from high school in Spring Grove.

On July 18, 1945, she married Harlan Johnson in Waukon.

On June 1, 1974, she married Cyril “Mike” McKee.

Jeanne was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She loved to do her crossword puzzles and also enjoyed reading. She liked to can tomatoes and pickles as well.

Survivors include a special friend, Howard Kolsrud; her children, David (Collette Lnenicka) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Deborah (Rodney) Sickles of Dorchester, and Dianne (Walter Larson) Johnson of Dorchester; nine grandchildren, Brian, Beth, Colene, Jamie, Jacob, Jodie, Heidi, Melodie, and Dana; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Opal Kannenberg of Seattle and Norma Meyer of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harlan Johnson and Cyril “Mike” McKee; her parents, William and Signe Kannenberg; a grandson, Daniel; two great-grandchildren, Faron and Daniel; and eight siblings, Jerry, William, Norman, Valdis, Florence, Helen, Elsie, and Evelyn.
