Two-Vehicle Accident

On Thursday, July 23, at 4:17 p.m., the Fayette County Sheriff's responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Cedar Road and Filmore Road. After an investigation by Sheriff's deputies it was determined that Nicole Marie Coonfare, 24, of Volga, was stopped at the intersection in a 2007 Ford Edge when she pulled out in front of a 2002 Toyota Camry driven by Kathryn Sue Durnan, 60, of Elgin.

Durnan swerved to missed the Coonfare vehicle and struck the grass median causing approximately $2,000 in damages to her vehicle. There were no injuries reported and no damage to the Coonfare vehicle. Coonfare was charged with Failure to Yield when Entering the Highway.



Arrested on Warrant

On Thursday, July 23, a Fayette County Deputy arrested Ryan Lee Jones, 24, of Waukon, at the Washington St. Apartments in Elgin on an Allamakee County warrant for two counts of assault. Ryan was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he was held on $1,500 cash bond.

Failure to Maintain Control

On Sunday, July 19, at 2:29 p.m., the Fayette County Sheriff's Office was notified of a semi tractor-trailer rolled over on its side just south of the intersection of 300th Street and X Avenue. After an investigation by the deputy it was determined that Mark Charles Kuennen, 39, of Waucoma, was driving 2006 Kenworth east on 300th Street pulling a van trailer owned by Precision Torque Converters out of New Hampton when he failed to negotiate a right hand turn onto X Avenue and rolled the semi and trailer into the east ditch.

There were no injuries reported and the van trailer was considered a total loss. Kuennen's semi tractor sustained approximately $10,000 in damages. Kuennen was charged with Failure to Maintain Control.
