Former Luana Woman is honored by Who's Who

A select group of America's teachers are being honored by their toughest critics -- their former students -- in the eighth edition of "Who's Who Among America's Teachers."
Students were requested to nominate the one teacher from their entire academic experience who made a difference in their lives by helping to shape their values, inspire interest in a particular subject, and challenge them to strive for excellence. Students also mentioned enthusiasm about their subject and the knowledge their nominated teachers demonstrated in the classroom.
Amy (Kruse) Whetzel, daughter of Marvin and Lula Kruse of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Luana, Iowa, has received this honor. Currently Amy is a Behavior Learning Specialist in Shelbyville, Illinois. Amy teaches students at the high school level who require special needs to be successful academically.
Amy has been teaching for 20 years. She received her undergraduate degree from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Amy went on to get her Masters Degree in Special Education at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. She and her husband reside in Shelbyville where they own a seasonal business on the lake.
