FOUR VIE FOR ALLAMAKEE DAIRY PRINCESS TITLE

The 36th annual Allamakee County Dairy Days banquet will be held Thursday, June 1, 7:30 p.m., in the Waukon Senior High gymnasium. Competing for the 2000 county dairy princess title are Allamakee residents Angie Gibbs, Rachel Reiser, Erin Schulte and Renee Schulte. Crowning this year’s royalty will be current County and State Dairy Princess Tiffany Einck. Brief biographies of the young women competing for the position are as follows:

Angie Gibbs -
This fall, recent graduate Angie Gibbs plans to attend Winona State University, Winona, MN, to pursue a degree in medical technology.
During the 1999/2000 academic season, Angie remained busy, serving on the WSH Warpath staff and also co-editing the student yearbook. She participated in the Dollars for Scholars program and has been named to the Who’s Who of American High School Students. Other activities included membership to 4-H and serving as a vacation Bible school teacher.
Angie cites fishing, shopping and passing days with both friends and family as among her favorite pastimes.
She is the daughter of Mike and Cindy Gibbs of Waterville.

Erin Schulte -
Growing up on an organic dairy farm of 125 jerseys in rural Dorchester, Erin Schulte was expected to participate in both milking and field work. Today, Erin remains appreciative to her parents for her farming background.
A recent high school graduate, Erin participated in this year’s spring musical, “Big River.” She served as a member of prom court, the golf team and Senior High band. She has also been named as an academic Who’s Who student and completed college-level coursework through Northeast Iowa Community College in Calmar. An artist, Erin has competed in area art shows and displayed her work locally.
Erin plans to pursue further study this fall at Iowa State University, Ames, in the fields of architecture and interior design.
Her parents are Keith and Jenette Schulte of Dorchester.

Renee Schulte -
In her spare time, Renee Schulte of Dorchester enjoys softball and working on her family farm. She also finds time to serve as a CCD teacher and maintains employment at Country Kitchen in Decorah.
A May graduate of Waukon Senior High, Renee was active in the Dollars for Scholars program and played on the basketball team.
This fall, Renee will attend Loras College in Dubuque for undergraduate studies. Future plans include pursuing graduate work in the field of radiology.
Her parents are Rick and Sue Schulte of Dorchester.

Rachel Reiser -
During her senior year at Waukon High School, Rachel Reiser served as both student council and senior class president. She performed duties as a yearbook editor, has been named to the National Honor Society and belonged to both the Key Club and the Future Business Leaders of America. She played on the basketball, volleyball and track teams as well.
At home, Rachel assists with milking, calving and haying duties. During the past nine years, she has been an active member of the River Valley Panthers 4-H club. She is also employed at the Waukon Good Samaritan Center and the Vets Club.
Rachel enjoys riding horses, baking, taking walks, canoeing and photography.
This fall, she will begin an associate in arts degree at Northeast Iowa Community College, Calmar. She intends to pursue further education in either medicine or business.
Rachel is the daughter of Mark and Nancy Reiser of Churchtown.

In addition to crowning a new Dairy princess, a number of other awards will be announced. Twenty county dairy producers will be recognized at the banquet for production levels over ten percent above breed average.
Other dairy awards to be announced include the Distinguished Dairy Family Award, Outstanding Young Dairy Family Award, Pioneer Dairyman, Distinguished Service to the Dairy Industry, Golden Butter Knife award and a dairy science scholarship.
The Postville Chamber of Commerce will host the annual Dairy Days parade on Saturday, June 24, 11 a.m., in conjunction with their Agri-Industrial Days celebration and the Big Four Fair.
