Friday afternoon accident near Harpers Ferry claims life of Cincinnati, OH man

The Allamakee County Sheriff's Emergency Dispatch Center received a report of a single motor vehicle accident with entrapment Friday afternoon, May 2 at approximately 1:35 p.m. on Luster Heights Road near Harpers Ferry. The ensuing report explained that the lone occupant of the vehicle, 37-year-old Randall Litschgi of Cincinnati, OH, was transported from the scene of the accident to Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, where he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the accident.
The Sheriff's report indicates Litschgi was traveling eastbound on Luster Heights Road when he failed to navigate a curve in the roadway. His vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree and came to rest on its side. Litschgi was reported as not wearing a seat belt.
The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol and Allamakee County Sheriff's Office. Also assisting at the scene were the Harpers Ferry Fire and Rescue Squad and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
