Golden Eagle training and field trip event scheduled for January 11

The National Eagle Center in Wabasha, MN and the Decorah Public Library are co-sponsoring a training and field trip event for those intersted in learning more about Golden Eagles. Scott Mehus, Education Director at the National Eagle Center, will be the featured presenter at the Saturday, January 11 training event being held in the upstairs meeting room in the Decorah Public Library, with a field trip then being planned along the Upper Iowa River heading toward the Mississippi River.
The event will discuss Golden Eagles in Iowa and the Upper Midwest, including their ecology and natural history, in addition to identification tips. The indoor training portion of the event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the library meeting room in Decorah, with the outdoor field trip then beginning at 2 p.m. to practice what was learned.
The January 11 program, training and practice will prepare participants for the Annual Golden Eagle Survey Day scheduled for the following Saturday, January 18. Further information about both events will be made available as it is finalized.
