Helen M. Shaw, 72, of McGregor, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, WI, following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 19, at Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in McGregor, with subsequent burial in National Cemetery in rural Garnavillo.
Helen is survived by one son, Robert “Butch” (Linda) Shaw of Marquette; four daughters, Helen (Allen) Meyer of Abingdon, IL, Margaret Gorman of Waukon, Emma Shaw of Mcgregor, and Linda (Curtis) Noach of Guttenberg; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Delores Ostoff of Genoa, WI; two brothers, Kenneth (Betty) Knight of Edgerton, WI, and Jack (Ilene) Knight of Norwalk, WI; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Edward; one sister, Charlotte; and one brother, Winston.
Helen was born Sept. 20, 1927, in Ion to parents Oris and Audrey (Spores) Knight. She married LeRoy Shaw June 29, 1945, at Eastman, WI. The couple lived for a time in Eastman and Lynxville, both in Wisconsin, before eventual relocation to Marquette.
LeRoy passed away Nov. 26, 1978. Helen remained in Marquette until 1996, at which time she relocated to McGregor.
